I’m Emily Paige (she/her), a children’s illustrator and felt artist based in Wixom, Michigan. I grew up surrounded by creative people, and it inspired me to pursue art in college. I studied Studio Art and Graphic Design at Oakland University, where I discovered a love for children’s illustration. My favorite projects are children’s picture & board books, but I also have a soft spot for early-reader and middle-grade chapter books!
When I’m not drawing, you can usually find me doing some sort of “grandma” craft hobby (crocheting or cross-stitching), or reading a cozy mystery book!
Please reach out if you’d love to work together on a project!

For the most part, I use Procreate on my iPad with an Apple Pencil. Occasionally, I use Adobe Illustrator and InDesign for tweaks or text additions. For my felt pieces, I use 1.2mm hard felt and solvent-free glue.

I start by sketching out my illustration and tracing it onto transfer paper, which I use as a reference when hand-cutting the pieces of felt that I’ll need. Then, I glue the pieces together and photograph them, sending the photo to my iPad. I use Procreate to digitally draw on top of the image to add all the little details and fun elements! Cutting the felt and piecing them together is like a puzzle in my head, and as an avid jigsaw-puzzler, it’s my favorite part.

I tend to be drawn to all things whimsical and cozy, but some of my favorite things to look at for inspiration are woodland animals and natural elements like flowers, mushrooms, and other various plants. When I think about the art that always catches my eye, they tend feature one (or more) of these things.
